Celebrate Tu Bishvat | Wednesday, January 24 2024

Tu BiShvat is a Jewish holiday that occurs on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Shevat. It is also known as Rosh HaShanah La'Ilanot, which literally means "New Year of the Trees". In contemporary Israel, the day is known as Eco Awareness Day, and trees are planted in celebration.

1. Pick fresh fruits and vegetables from local farms.
2. Plant trees, seeds or create an herb garden.
3. Build a birdhouse and hang it from a tree.
4. Eat the seven main crops of the land of Israel: wheat, grapes, barley, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates.
5. Organize a park sweep to collect trash.
6. Make something for your home out of reclaimed wood.
7. Take time to research your own ancestry and organize your family tree.
8. Commit to recycling paper products. If you haven't already, grab a separate container and you're all set!
9. Conduct Tu B'Shevat Seder.
